I started my career as a therapist after qualifying in massage in 2003. I qualified in acupuncture with a postgraduate diploma after 4 years of study at the Northern College of Acupuncture in 2006.
I have worked in clinics in both Nottingham and Derbyshire, I have been contracted to work for a GP surgery in central Nottingham and I have spent 18 years working in end of life care for a Nottinghamshire Hospice. I have gained a great deal experience of complex and serious conditions whilst working with many experienced palliative care nurses.
My training was strongly influenced by Chinese acupuncture traditions which continue to be used in Chinese hospitals. I have a strong science background and whilst it can be confounding to try and understand some of the ancient concepts that inform Traditional Chinese Medicine in more modern medical terms it is:
“a distinct system based on anatomical knowledge, directed by ancient philosophical thought, produced after long observation of lifes phenomena and proved repeatedly through medical practice”

My method is to use all the theories and clinical studies that are available to me to inform my practice with the aim of providing safe and effective evidence based treatments.

I use acupuncture mainly but also massage, cupping, electro acupuncture and moxibustion. I also offer advice on dietary habits, exercise and stretching and mobilisations. I will alway give my opinion on the likely success of treatment and if I think there is a more effective alternative available.
